The Orange Ball Level, named “Young Champs,” is designed for children aged 8 to 10 who are ready to transition from the Red Ball program or are new to tennis and fit within this age bracket. This stage builds on the foundational skills learned in the previous levels or introduces new players to the game in an age-appropriate manner.
Key Features
- Age-Appropriate Equipment
The orange balls used in this stage are slightly smaller and heavier than red balls, providing more bounce and speed to suit the developing skills of this age group. The recommended racket size is 23-25″, offering better control and comfort. - Intermediate Court Dimensions
Classes are conducted on a slightly larger court than the Red Ball stage, measuring 60′ x 21′ for singles and 60′ x 27′ for doubles, with a net height of 3′ in the center. This accommodates the advancing skills and physical growth of the players. - Skill Enhancement
Coaches focus on refining basic strokes and introducing intermediate techniques such as topspin and slice. Players learn to control the ball with greater precision and power. - Match Play and Strategy
Instruction includes more advanced strategies, emphasizing positioning, shot selection, and constructing points. Children begin to understand the nuances of match play and develop strategic thinking. - Fitness and Coordination
Sessions incorporate drills to improve agility, balance, and coordination, supporting overall athletic development. Fitness routines are tailored to enhance endurance and speed. - Competitive Opportunities
Children engage in regular match play and participate in intra-clinic tournaments, offering a platform to apply their skills in a competitive environment while learning the importance of sportsmanship. - Personalized Feedback and Goal Setting
Coaches provide individualized assessments and feedback, helping players set goals and track their progress. This reinforces a growth mindset and encourages continuous improvement. - Social Skills and Confidence Building
The group dynamic fosters a sense of community, encouraging players to build friendships, communicate effectively, and support each other, all while growing in self-confidence.
The Orange Ball Clinic is perfect for young players who are committed to enhancing their tennis skills and enjoy a balanced approach to learning both the technical and social aspects of the sport.
